Turn your heat off:
The movers are going in and out of your house for hours, your furnace will be trying to heat the house and it will all go straight out the door! Think of the money you will save if you turn off the heat in both your current and new home, just while the movers are going in and out.
Take care of your pets:
No one wants the family pet under your foot while they are trying to move, and if you take my advice and turn the heat off, your family pet will need to stay somewhere warm. Call a local pet bordering company or ask a family member or friend to keep your pet for the day of the move.
Clear the sidewalks and driveways:
Be sure to salt, shovel, or snow blow your side walkways and driveways, so the movers can walk safely with your belongings. It is very difficult to move furniture on an icy sidewalk or drive way.
Take Care your of electronics:
Electronics do not like cold weather. Try to pack all electronics into one or two boxes. If you can make sure your electronics travel in your car, so they can maintain a steady temperature.
Dress appropriately:
Dress in layers so you can shed some clothing if you get warm. Make sure to keep extra coats, snow boots, hats, and gloves, set aside for the family. You don’t want to have them accidentally get put on the moving truck.
